Madelyn Allen

September 16, 1919 — December 16, 2007

OXFORD -- MADELYN ALLEN - Madelyn decided on December 16, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. that she did not want a Christmas without Bob. So she joined him in heaven which was a glorious day for Dad to have his one true love with him again. After Dad passed away in March of this year, there was never a day that Mom and I wouldn't cry because we missed him so. I'm sure he has had a rough time up there doing the gardening and tending to all our animals and Harlet, our dad's best playmate. No he'll have his first true love to help him. Madelyn was born in East Douglas, Massachusetts to Josephine and Ali Abrahams on September 16, 1919. Soon after, the little family moved to Turkey where her Dad had a limousine company. Five years went by and her dad passed away at the age 32. Immediately her mother Josephine started what would be a five year process to come back to America. When Madelyn arrived in Oxford she could not speak a word of English. She still graduated from Oxford High School at the age of 17 despite all the problems she encountered. Little did she know, but Bob Allen was living just a few houses away during this time. He would tease her on her way to school and they would be married for 68 years. Mom suffered a stroke in 1995 which left her incapable of caring for herself. But true to his word Dad cared for her until December of 2003 when, because of his health, they moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to live with their daughter, Priscilla and all the pets. There were many happy times in those four years that I will never forget. It has been an honor and a privilege to have been able to have my parents for so long and for the last years. Now I have them both to miss. Madelyn passed away at her daughter Priscilla's home with friends, pets and her daughter at her side. So please remember Madelyn and Bob with love and fond memories and say a prayer, and if there are any prayers left, please say one for me. Madelyn and Bob had both retired from Norton Company in Worcester. Unusual blessings God gave me in this loving mother so dear her faith, trust and love in her heart will guide me through the years. God Bless All of You. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 19, 2007, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
