OXFORD – Margaret W. Adams, 82, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Brookside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Webster. She is survived by three children, Peter C. Gillies of Fitchburg, Jane S. Pietrzak and her husband Joseph of Dudley, and Jennifer G. Landgren and her husband Donald of Oxford; five grandchildren, Lori Pietrzak, Michael Pietrzak, Tyler Myers-Gillies, Kyra Stauffer, and Bridget Landgren; three great-grandchildren, Penelope R. Pietrzak, Malia M. Konie, and Theodore C. Pietrzak; and her second former husband, Alan Gelineau of Auburn. She was predeceased by her first former husband, Robert B. Gillies; and her sister, Barbara Chandler. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles S. and Pauline F. (Stewart) Adams, and lived most of her life in Auburn and Oxford. She graduated from Holden High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Worcester.
Ms. Adams was an elementary school teacher for Oxford Public Schools for many years. Later, she was a social worker for the Worcester and Oxford Councils on Aging. In addition, she worked at Quinsigamond Community College and Digital Equipment Corporation. Ms. Adams volunteered for many years for the Meals-on-Wheels program in Auburn. She loved cats, coffee, was an avid Red Sox fan, and loved her grandchildren more than anything.
Memorial calling hours are Friday, June 17, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Family remembrances will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local cat shelter.
