OXFORD - Maria A. (Henriques) Santos, 93, formerly of Highland Avenue, died peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Worcester Rehabilitation and Health Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Jose N. Santos who died in 1989. She is survived by her son, Julio H. Santos of Newington, CT; her grandson, Julio E. Santos and his wife Michele of Oxford; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan N. Santos and Jenna E. Santos, both of Oxford. She was born in Monsanto, Alcanena, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio Henriques and Elvira A. da Costa, and lived many years in Portugal and several years in Hartford, CT, before moving back to Portugal and finally to Oxford 12 years ago. Mrs. Santos worked as a nurse's aide for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, needlework, and was a skilled seamstress. She had a great devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and enjoyed traveling to Fatima often to pray. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf, 4 Maple Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.
