Marilyn Mccassey

AUBURN/CHARLTON – Marilyn L. (Pollock) McCassey, 93, died Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Eddy Pond in Auburn after a brief illness.  She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur M. McCassey who died in 1999.  She is survived by two children, Marilyn R. Prouty and her husband Daniel of Charlton, and John M. McCassey of Worcester; her sister, Rose Lahti of Princeton; five grandchildren, Elisabeth Gilbride and her husband James of Charlton, Michaela Prouty and her husband Bryan Coleman of Oxford, Kristin Schultz and her husband Richard of Thompson, CT, Keith McCassey and his wife Madeline of Worcester, and Christina Shea and her husband Christopher of Hudson; five great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by a son, Bruce A. McCassey who died in 2015; eight siblings, Edward, James, and William Pollock, Kathleen Crawley, Barbara Brousseau, Janet Goss, Margaret Lincoln, and Mary LaCouture; and a great-granddaughter, Lorelai Schultz who died in 2015.  She was born in Leominster, daughter of the late Edward and Barbara (Milligan) Pollock, and lived in Stow for many years and Charlton for 25 years, before moving to Auburn 4 years ago.  She graduated from Leominster High School in 1945.

Mrs. McCassey worked at Lance Corporation in Hudson for many years.  She was a member of the Gleasondale Methodist Church in Stow, where she also taught Sunday School.  She was a terrific cook, and proudly learned her skills from her mother-in-law Ethel McCassey.  She enjoyed summering in Ogunquit, Maine, walks along the Marginal Way, and playing Bingo at Eddy Pond.  She had a great sense of humor loved comedies, music and dancing, and traveling with her sisters Mary and Rose.

Due to COVID restrictions, no services will be held at this time.  Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
