Mark D. Giles

OXFORD – Mark D. Giles, 55, of Waite Street, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gail K. (Kemp) Giles of Oxford; three daughters, Brittany Jean, Jade Marie, and Sophia Rose, all of Oxford; his father- and mother-in-law, Gary and Linda Kemp of Oxford; his uncle and aunt, Paul and Karla Albuquerque of Oxford; and a large extended family.

He was born in Oxford, son of the late Dennis Francis Giles and Linda Mary (Albuquerque) Welker, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Bay Path R.V.T. High School in Charlton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Gulf War (Desert Storm), proudly serving aboard the U.S.S. Orion and U.S.S. Blue Ridge. He was the current commander of VFW Post 5663 in Oxford.

Mr. Giles was a custodian at Oxford High School in Oxford for over 20 years. Previously he worked as a cook at the Whistle Stop in Oxford, the U.S. Postal Distribution Center in Shrewsbury. He was a hard-working man who would do anything to provide for his family. He served as past president of Access Oxford and was the Union Steward at Oxford High School.

Mark was well-known in the Oxford community and was well-liked by all who knew him. He loved to cook and attend yard sales with his daughters. He was a phenomenal father and a family man through and through. He will be remembered for his wonderful personality, great sense of humor, and the thoughtful ways he treated others. He would do anything for anyone

He had great respect for his uncle Paul, who helped raise him. He was very proud of his children and always put his wife and daughters first.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Roch’s Cemetery, Federal Hill Road, Oxford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the N.J.R.O.T.C., c/o Oxford High School, 100 Carbuncle Dr., Oxford, MA 01540.
