Southbridge

SOUTHBRIDGE – Michael Lis, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 53.

Born on March 12, 1973, Michael was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Grace Lis of Hudson, New York.

Michael lived life with passion, humor, and a generous heart. He was the kind of person who could make people laugh when they needed it most and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness and willingness to support others left a lasting impression on the many people fortunate enough to know him.

An athlete throughout his younger years, Michael proudly played volleyball for Roger Williams University. His love of music was lifelong. Whether playing guitar with his band or "laying down tracks" in the studio, music was one of his greatest joys and a creative outlet that reflected his free spirit.

Michael also found happiness on the golf course, where he could often be found enjoying a round with friends. More recently, he discovered a love for cooking, especially preparing his signature tres leches cake. No day was complete without an iced coffee in hand, and he found joy in sharing good food, good music, and good company.

Above all, Michael loved his three children, Ava, Zachary, and Hudson, who were always close to his heart and brought great meaning to his life.

Michael is survived by his beloved children, Ava, Zachary, Hudson, and their mother Dina; his sister, Cathy Wong-Li, and her husband, Tony Wong-Li; his nephew, Ryan Wong-Li, and his wife, Ophélie; his niece, Kiley Wong-Li; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Grace Lis.

Michael will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, musical talent, generous spirit, and the countless ways he showed up for others. His laughter, his guitar, his stories, and his heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Michael's life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date.
