OXFORD / LAKE SUZY, FL – Michael J. McGeary, 71, formerly of Oxford and Holland, died on Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Florida due to complications of surgery. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Colbenson) McGeary of Lake Suzy, FL; two sisters, Carol A. Bishop and her husband Allan of Burnsville, NC, and Lori Urella and her husband Wayne of Webster; two brothers, Patrick J. McGeary of Oxford and David J. McGeary of Webster; many nephews and nieces; and his beloved dog, Domino. He was predeceased by two sisters, Linda M. Marcotte who died in 1999, and Catherine T. McGeary who died in 2017. He was born in Webster, son of the late William J. and Rita F. (Caplette) McGeary, and attended Oxford public schools.
Mr. McGeary was a chef for many years, working at various area restaurants including the Yankee Drummer in Auburn, the Whistling Swan in Sturbridge, and the Public House in Sturbridge. He retired as a butcher at the Big Bunny Supermarket in Southbridge. He loved cooking for his friends and family, and enjoyed entertaining at his home. He had many friends and will be sadly missed by his friends and family, especially his new family in Lake Suzy, Florida.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rachel's Table, 633 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609, or to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Rd., P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting with arrangements.
