OXFORD – Nathalie E. “Lee” (Newhall) Ryder, 84, of Manor Lane, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. “Hal” Ryder Jr., who died in 2006. She is survived by three sons, Eric Ryder of Lake Wylie, SC, Bryan Ryder and his wife Beth of Oxford, and Jason Ryder and his wife Paula of Shrewsbury; her brother, Charles “Chick” Newhall of Danvers; her grandchildren, Treyton Ryder, Montana Ryder, Mackenzie Ryder, Sydney Ryder, Kaci Ryder, Taylor Ryder, Mia Ryder and Shayne Ryder; and a large extended family. She was born in Lynn on April 18, 1938, daughter of the late Warren and Eleanor (Clay) Newhall, grew up in Saugus and then lived in Salisbury for over 35 years before moving to Oxford 16 years ago. She graduated from Saugus High School in 1956.
Mrs. Ryder was a special education teacher for the Salisbury Memorial School for over 20 years, retiring in 2001. Later, she volunteered in the library at the Clara Barton School in Oxford for 10 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Oxford. Mrs. Ryder enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and pets, traveling, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved good conversation and had a great gift to be able to talk to anyone.
Calling hours are Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service along with burial at Long Hill Cemetery in Salisbury will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
