Patricia Baril

April 8, 1927 — October 13, 2017

OXFORD – Patricia “Pat” (Langer) Baril, 90, died Friday, October 13, 2017, at home with her family by her side, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Francis E. Baril; three children, Deborah A. Roland and her husband Paul of Oxford, David E. Baril and his wife Alberta of Eastampton, NJ, and Richard G. Baril and his wife Angela of Monroe, CT; her sister, Lois Taylor and her husband Warren Field of Centerville, and her sister in law Theresa Baril of Tuscon, AZ. She also leaves six grandchildren, Anita Greco and her husband Nick, Michael Baril and his wife Kasey, Heather Roland, Christopher Roland and his wife Alyce Delbridge, Jessica Baril, and Jacqueline Baril; as well as two great-grandchildren, Daniela and Alessandro Greco; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was born in Oxford, daughter of the late Herbert B. and Ethel I. (Bell) Langer, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School and Boston Children’s Hospital School of Nursing.

Pat worked as a registered nurse at several area hospitals, though she enjoyed caring for her home and family for most of her life. She was a devout member of the Oxford United Methodist Church where she worked on various committees, and arranged the altar flowers for close to thirty years. She was an active leader of the Camp Fire Girls for over ten years and mentored the same group of girls as they progressed. For many years Pat worked alongside her husband Frank and other Oxford Ecumenical volunteers in organizing the local food shelf for community members in need. She was also an active board member of the Council on Aging.

Pat’s greatest love was spending time with her family. In her spare moments, Pat enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross stitching, baking, traveling the world, and playing in bridge tournaments with her husband. She also enjoyed summers on Webster Lake and many cold, New England winters away in sunny Florida!

Above all, Pat was known for her sharp wit and her loving demeanor. She was always so kind and thoughtful. We will miss her smile, her ability to laugh and her wry sense of humor. We know she is with God, and her mother and father who greeted her on the morning of her passing. We now have another angel to watch over us all. The family would like to send our gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Eddy Pond, the Jewish Healthcare Hospice, and Worcester Home Care, for their loving and attentive care during her illness.

A funeral service officiated by Pat’s nephews Pastors Herbert and John Taylor will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October, 21 2017, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
