OXFORD - Paul John Strid, 66, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lynne (Curran) Strid of Oxford; two children, Matthew J. Strid of Leicester and Megan E. Barchard and her husband Ryan of Lynn; his sister-in-law, Patty Guertin and her husband Ted of Oxford; his brother-in-law, Rick Curran and his wife Karen of Oxford; two nephews and one niece. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late John and Jennie (Nelson) Strid, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1974. He attended South High School in Worcester, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Strid was a truck driver at the Department of Public Works in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford, and also belonged to the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and a 4th degree member of the John Cardinal Wright Assembly. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, October 17, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf, 8 Maple St., Oxford, MA 01540.
