Philip Briggs

OXFORD – Philip N. Briggs, 78, of Main Street, died Saturday, January 30, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.  He succumbed to COVID-19 after numerous battles with cancer.  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jane E. (Dyson) Briggs of Oxford; two children, Stacy Rogers and her husband Marc of Dunedin, FL, and Josh of Merino Pond in Dudley; his brother, Clifford Briggs and his wife Elizabeth of Oxford; two sisters, Norma Bouchard and her husband Charles of Haverhill, and Christine Monson and her husband Lenny of Oxford; two grandchildren, Reagan Carney and her husband Matt of Moundville, AL, and Ryan Sandoz of Tampa, FL; his mother-in-law, Patricia Dyson of Oxford; two sisters-in-law, Tracey Storey and her partner Brian Lamson of Worcester and Lynn Butler-Dinunno and her husband Vinny Dinunno of Webster; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late Norman L. and Ruth (West) Briggs, and lived most of his life in Oxford.  He graduated from Oxford High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Briggs worked as a salesman and sales manager for various automobile dealerships for many years.  After retirement, he drove for Central Mass Auto Auction in Oxford for 10 years.  He was a sports fan who enjoyed watching sports, coaching his son in baseball, and playing softball in several leagues.  He enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, and driving around in his bright yellow mustang convertible.

Services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS New England, P.O. Box 542, Ashland, MA 01721.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
