CHARLTON – Phyllis W. (Houghton) Collins, 99, of Charlton, died Monday, March 23, 2026, at Brookdale Eddy Pond West in Auburn, with her family by her side.

She was born in East Halls Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of the late Willard and Mary Ellen (Borden) Houghton.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, C. Milton Collins who died in 1992; one brother; and two sisters.

She is survived by five children, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She moved to the U.S. in the early 1950’s with her husband and four children, and her last child was born in the United States. She enjoyed taking care of her home and family.

She was an avid quilter and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and baking. She always considered her family to be the light of her life. Phyllis always enjoyed the time she spent with her First Congregational Church family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 11, 2026, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will be at a later date in Nova Scotia, Canada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 355 Main Street, P.O. Box 585, Oxford, MA 01540.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
