CHARLTON – Richard Warren Cummings, 87, of Masonic Home Road, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Harrington Memorial Hospital – Southbridge.

He is survived by his three daughters; Cheryl L. Drake, and her husband Calvin of Virginia; Lori M. Pickering and her husband James of Charlton; and Lisa A. Burlingame; his former wife, Linda Healey of Charlton; Six grandchildren, Brandon, Alycia, Caitlin, Amy, Shane, and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Owen, Harper, Waylon, Case, and Henry; a sister, Maryjane Gilespie; and six special close friends, Darlene Tully, Daniel Crowley, Deborah Mann, Lisa Foskett, Jerry Foskett, and Donald Foskett. He is predeceased by his wife of three years but beloved companion for 42 years, Marcia (Lane) Cummings who died in 2021; two brothers, Donald and Dan; and three sisters, Judy, Audrey, and Lois.

Mr. Cummings was born in Charlton, son of the late James G. and Bessie (Wolfenden) Cummings and graduated from Charlton High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Richard owned and operated Richard W. Cummings Asphalt Paving, prior to his retirement in 2014. He was a very hardworking man, who made a positive impact on everyone he met.

He loved visiting the casino, long road trips, snowmobiling, and freshwater fishing. He always enjoyed visiting the Charlton Center Coffee Shop, where he would socialize with everyone there. He enjoyed meeting new people and talking about anything, which led to his nickname of “The Mayor” throughout the community at Overlook in Charlton.

Services will be held privately at Northside Cemetery in Charlton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation, PO Box 160112 Miami, FL 33116-0112.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
