ATHENS, PA – Richard Lee Thrush, 79, formerly of Oxford, died Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, Pennsylvania. He is survived by three children, Richard Ziehl of Brookfield, Cheryl Ziehl of Spencer, and Michelle McHatton of East Brookfield; a brother, Dennis Thrush of Auburn; and one grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Thrush of Whitinsville; and a sister, Kathleen Sell of Ohio.

He was born in Winchendon, son of the late Marion E. (Frazier) LeMay, and lived in many places throughout his life, including Winchendon, Worcester, Oxford, Germany, Hawaii, Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania. He attended Oxford High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Thrush worked in building maintenance for numerous elderly housing developments for 23 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Chestnut Street Congregational Church in Worcester. As a child, he was a member of the Boy Scouts, the Boy’s Choir, and the Boy’s Club. He enjoyed riding his bicycle long distances, playing computer games, making Christmas cards, and helping the elderly.

Burial will be held privately at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
