NORTH OXFORD – Rico J. Latuga, 64, of Savory Crossing, died peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after fighting a rare brain disease. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Denise J. (Cabana) Latuga of North Oxford; two children, Lindsey J. Whitney and her husband Keith of Leicester, and Nicholas M. Latuga of Putnam, CT; his brother, Joseph Latuga and his wife Robin of Oxford; his sister, Cheryl Latuga of Auburn; four grandchildren, Makenzie Whitney, Jackson Whitney, Carter Latuga, and Mason Latuga; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Latuga. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Enrico H. and Yvonne A. (Desmarais) Latuga, and was a lifelong resident of North Oxford.
Mr. Latuga worked for various companies in the construction industry for many years. Previously, he owned N&R Home Improvement and was a truck driver. He was a member of numerous sportsman’s clubs throughout his life, most recently belonging to Auburn Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all outdoor activities. He will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help and could be counted on by family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Auburn Sportsman’s Club, 50 Elm Street, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks, P.O. Box 37148, Boone, IA 50037-0148.
