OXFORD – Robert M. Cierpich, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene A. (Livernois) Cierpich of Oxford; four daughters: Angela Bachand and her husband Brian of Holland, Rachel Shays-Beaudry and her partner Matthew Broderick of Oxford, Rebecca Cierpich of Metairie, LA, and Sarah Cierpich and her husband Joseph Yates of Bourne; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Robert was born in Dudley in 1939, son of the late Aloysius C. and Anna E. (Witkowski) Cierpich. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1957. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer Charles P. Cecil, and together with her crew, surfaced a Russian submarine during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Irene and Robert married on August 8, 1964. Mr. Cierpich and his young family moved to Oxford in 1970, and he lived there for the remainder of his life. He was a tool and die maker by trade, retiring from Killeen Machine & Tool of Worcester in 2010. He loved spending time outdoors, gardening, foraging for mushrooms, and enjoyed fishing and playing guitar in his younger years. Robert will be remembered as a hard-working, honest man who loved God, his country, and his family.
Memorial calling hours are Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours.
