OXFORD – Robert E. Davis, 75, of Charlton Street, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marsha R. (Plante) Davis of Oxford; three children, Travis E. Davis and his wife Cynthia of North Brookfield, Taylor M. Davis of Charlton, and Tara L. Kallio and her husband Eric Kallio II of Oxford; a brother, Raymond H. Davis and his wife Jane of Oxford; a sister, Marilyn J. Mason of Southbridge; a very special sister, Gail M. Davis; four grandchildren, Jacob W. Davis, Victoria L Davis, Ryan M. Davis, and Jaxson E. Davis; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Russell W. Davis. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert W. and Olive (Mitchell) Davis, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1966. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and later served in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Davis worked at Schott Fiber Optics in Southbridge for 35 years, retiring in 2012. He was a member of the National Wildlife Federation, and his yard was certified by the organization. He loved spending time working in his yard, birdwatching, gardening, and providing a beautiful environment for wildlife to thrive. Mr. Davis bowled in Chet’s Social League in Webster many years ago, and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Fix-It.” He will be fondly remembered as someone who would help anyone in need and was a friend to all.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 1583, Merrifield, VA 22116-1583. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
