Robert Deschenes

LIBERTY, ME - Robert P. Deschenes, 63, of Stevens Pond Road, died peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sandra (Beach) Deschenes of Liberty and Belfast, ME; his brother, Brian C. Deschenes of Webster; two sisters, Virginia R. Gahagan and her husband John of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, and Susan L. Grout and her husband Richard of Dudley; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 3 great nieces, 2 great nephews; and his beloved dog, Herbie, who is now in the care of his niece Tracy. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Albert N. and Ruby R. (Legasey) Deschenes, and lived in Oxford before moving to Maine many years ago. He attended Oxford Public Schools. Mr. Deschenes previously worked at Heald Machine Company in Worcester, Crowe Rope in Maine, and the Palermo School Department in Palermo, Maine. He loved animals, playing darts, and enjoyed visits from his family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his dear friend, Sandra Edgecomb for her never-ending support and friendship throughout the years, and the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center, especially Dr. Robert Bach and Lynne Estes, R.N., for their exceptional care. A private graveside service will be held at North Cemetery in Oxford at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter of your choice. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
