WORCESTER – Robert J. Fanion, 56, of Superior Road, died Saturday, December 12, 2020, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kristina M. Fanion of Worcester; his daughter, Breayona J. Fanion of Worcester; his son, Henry F. Hicks and his fiancée Bree of Sutton; his mother, Catherine (Capuano) Fanion of Worcester; three brothers, Edward Fanion and his wife Susan of Worcester, Earl Fanion of Cherry Valley, and Gary Fanion of Worcester; four sisters, Carol Nourse and her husband David of Leicester, Sheila Howard and her husband Dennis of East Brookfield, Cheryl Poirier and her husband Mick of Worcester, and Annmarie Thorpe of Bradenton, FL; his father- and mother-in-law, Thomas and Maureen (Fanning) Stanley of Worcester; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Stanley Jr. of Worcester and James Stanley and his longtime girlfriend Sherry of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Earl Fanion, and was a lifelong resident of Worcester.
Mr. Fanion worked for J.S. and Son Asphalt Service in Millbury for his great longtime friend, Joe Santo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to the beach and the casino. Most of all, he loved his family very much.
Calling hours are Tuesday, December 29, 2020, from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a service 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Due to gathering restrictions at this time, a celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
