RUTLAND – Robert “Scooter” G. Scott, 95, died peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Janice I. (Nordstrom) Scott who died in 2024. He is survived by his son, Shaun M. Scott and his wife Tammy of Sutton; a granddaughter, Hannah R. Scott of Rangely, ME; and a step-grandson, Tyler Rhodes of Sutton. He was predeceased by his brother Eric Scott.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Eric and Pauline (Lord) Scott, and lived in Sutton and Millbury before moving to Rutland 58 years ago.
Mr. Scott was a machinist at Norton Company in Worcester for 28 years before retiring. He was a life member of the Rutland Sportsman’s Club in Rutland and occasionally tended bar at the club. He was also a life member of the Dennysville Sportsman’s Club in Dennysville, Maine. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Boy Scouts of America when he was young.
He was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life. He loved fishing for salmon and trout, and was a tournament fisherman for many years. He also enjoyed hunting.
The family would like to thank Salmon Hospice for their exceptional care during his illness.
Memorial calling hours are Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Military funeral honors will be conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
