Robert St. George

December 29, 1949 — January 19, 2021

Oxford

OXFORD - Robert “Bob” Edmund St. George, 71, of Oxford died Tuesday, January 19th, at home surrounded by his family.  He was the son of the late Edmund and Mary (Rosseel) St. George of Auburn.

Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rebecca (Ward), and his five children: Mary “Lani” Bottis of Rutland; Lisa Lamica and her husband Cory of Holden; Jennifer Perosino and her husband John of Cheshire, CT; Jeffrey and his wife Julie of Tolland, CT; and Jillian Carpentier and her husband Andrew of Westboro. He leaves behind many grandchildren, Dylan Lamica and his wife Miryam; Ashley, Katie, and Ryan Bottis; John, Jamilyn, and Jacob Perosino; Austin and Garrett St. George; and Isabella Carpentier; and a great-granddaughter, Emilia Lamica. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Becker of Rutland, and her family, Joseph Becker of Rutland and Colleen Berard of Mystic, CT. Aside from his parents, Bob is predeceased by his brother, Stephen St. George.

Bob was a member of St. Roch’s Church, where he had previously served on the Finance Committee. He remained active in the Knights of Columbus (Pope John XXII Council #5481), where he was a former lecturer and chancellor, and was currently the treasurer. He was also a 4th degree member of the Bishop O’Reilly Assembly. In addition, Bob was involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Bob was born in Worcester and grew up in Auburn and graduated from St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury. He attended the College of the Holy Cross prior to enlisting in the military. An Air Force Veteran, he was in the Vietnam War and spent two years in Southeast Asia. Upon his return home, Bob graduated from Nichols College and took graduate courses at Assumption and WPI.

Bob retired in 2012 after a long career at NSTAR Gas Company. Prior to that, Bob owned and operated a local restaurant in Oxford “The Country Kitchen” for five years. After selling the restaurant, Bob started another business, “The Sound of Music Disc Jockey Service”, which saw him perform at thousands of weddings and private events over the next 30 years. Bob loved music, loved people – and loved bringing joy to all the guests at his events. Additionally, Bob loved working around his home and working on his vintage cars. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, boating, and was a Boston sports fan. In recent years, Bob enjoyed taking frequent trips with his dog Molly to Friendly’s for a Fribble.

But Bob’s greatest love was spending time with his family at his summer camp in Spencer. Every weekend during the summer began and ended with a famous “Sunday at Camp”, where any family or friend was welcomed. These were the perfect days for Bob – seeing his family get together to enjoy boating, games, relaxing conversations – and of course the famous “feeding frenzies”. Bob also loved to challenge his younger generation to a game of horseshoes, cornhole, and cribbage.
