OXFORD – Rev. Sarah L. (Love) Smedley, 95, of Federal Hill Road, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in her home. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Smedley of Oxford. She is survived by a daughter, Tina Kelly of Savannah, GA; her church daughter, Iola Blue of Boston; and her Godson and church daughter with whom she lived, George S. and Anna F. Matney of Oxford. She was predeceased by her brother Woody and her sister Rosa. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Joe and Della (Runner) Love, and lived in Louisiana, Hartford, CT, and Arkansas, before moving to Oxford 63 years ago. Rev. Smedley owned and operated Sarah Smedley Beauty Shop in Boston for many years, retiring in 1982. She was a nurse's aid in the Boston area for several years. Rev. Smedley was the Pastor of God in Christ Church in Boston for over 25 years, and was the secretary for the Bishop of the God in Christ Church in Connecticut for many years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, March 23, 2007, from 10-11 a.m., in the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mustard Seed, 93 Piedmont St., Worcester, MA 01609.
