Sarah E. Smith

HOLDEN – Sarah “Sally” (Dimock) Smith, 85, the blueberry lady from Berries and Blooms passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, after a courageous 8-year battle against cancer.

She was born in Oxford, the eldest daughter of Ralph & Esther Dimock. Sally graduated from Oxford High School and attended Burbank School of Nursing. She married her high school sweetheart, Terry, and after working in the nursing field, they embarked on a lifelong adventure in the agricultural world. First owning an apple orchard in Burnham, Maine, and then another one in Hubbardston, MA, before finally founding a blueberry farm in Holden, MA, operating “Berries and Blooms” for 29 years.

She was most happy, enjoying quiet times and found inner peace when she was working in her flower or vegetable gardens or in the blueberry field or apple orchard. Sewing during off-season and baking all year long for her family was a passion.

Sally is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, her 3 daughters, Debbie Harkins of Florida, Beth Neel (Edward) of Maryland and Amy Pavone (John) of Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
