Sonia Guerin

OXFORD - Sonia K. (Zamaites) Guerin, 78, of Pine Street, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus, in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Richard R. Guerin of Oxford who died in 2007; and her granddaughter, Amanda J. Brini of Griswold, CT, who died in 2009. She is survived by four children, Kathleen A. Goddard and her fiancé Michael R. Bishop of Oxford, Richard P. Guerin of Oxford, Timothy J. Guerin and his wife Georgiann of Sutton, and Sean F. Guerin and his wife Yajaira of Dudley; three brothers, John F. Zamaites, Joseph A. Zamaites, and Paul R. Zamaites; eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy H. (Carrigan) Zamaites, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1955. She graduated from North High School in Worcester in 1954 and received surgical technician training at St. Vincent Hospital. Mrs. Guerin was a receptionist for Drs. LeBlanc and McGovern in Worcester for 4 years, retiring in 1997. Previously, she worked at Sears in Auburn for 10 years and was a surgical technician at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford, and was a member and past president of the Women's Sodality at the church. She was a former member of the pastoral council at St. Roch's Church and was a member of the Oxford Woman's Club. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
