WORCESTER – Thomas Matthew Gay, 70, of Pleasant Street, died Friday, March 6, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his son, Robert T. Gay of Worcester; and his former wife, Nancy D. (Smith) Gay of Worcester.

He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of the late Edward Howard and Joyce Gwendolyn (Austin) Gay, and lived in Lawton OK, and Putney VT, as well as Worcester.

Mr. Gay worked at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester prior to retirement. Previously, he worked at Putney Paper Mill in Putney, VT, was a driver for the Salvation Army, and worked in housekeeping at AdCare Hospital in Worcester. He loved antique cars and muscle cars, and his favorite animals were dogs. He enjoyed peaceful solitude, and lived a quiet life.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 396, 674 Pleasant Street, Rochdale, MA 01542.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
