CUMBERLAND, RI – Thomas M. Scanlon, 81, of Crossing Drive, died Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his sister’s home in Dudley. He is survived by two sisters, Doreen Bassett and her husband Kenneth of Dudley, and Deborah Halley of Webster; and several nephews and nieces, including his nephew Patrick Scanlon and his wife Bonnie of Grafton. He was predeceased by two brothers, John P. Scanlon and Michael R. Scanlon; and three sisters, Patricia Faucher, Maureen Beland, and Kathleen Saad. He was born in Dudley, son of the late Patrick J. and Bridget (Fitzgibbons) Scanlon.
Mr. Scanlon attended Assumption College in Worcester. Later, he attended the Angelicum Seminary in Rome and the Gregorian Seminary in Rome. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.
Mr. Scanlon worked for the Okonite Company in Ramsey, NJ, for 45 years. He began as a plant manager of several manufacturing plants, and retired as vice president of human resources in 2011.
He enjoyed traveling to Ireland often, and had many lifelong friends there. He loved dining out at his favorite restaurants, including Luciano’s, Trattoria Roman, and Davenport’s Restaurant.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dudley. Calling hours are Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clara Barton Center, P.O. Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537.
