CHARLTON - Verne Fryklund of Charlton, MA died on Feb. 23, 2018 after a long battle with Primary Progressive M.S. He is survived by his loving, dedicated and supportive wife, Shaylene; his parents, Gilbert and Gabriele Fryklund of Winchester, MA, his sisters, Joyce Fryklund of New York, NY and Lauren Spielvogel of Sullivans Island, SC, and brother, Anthony Fryklund of Eagle, ID.

He was born in Boston and attended: Cardigan Mountain School, Salisbury School and Winchester H.S. He then attended the Mass. Maritime Academy where, at his graduation in 1992, he was awarded the prize from the American Bureau of Shipping for “excellence in engineering”. He went to sea for several years as an engineering officer, serving on Military Sealift Command research vessels collecting data all over the Pacific. He then took time off to retread himself, accumulating the licenses related to power plant operations in the state.

At the age of 30 he was chief engineer of the Charlton, MA Power Plant run by Millennium Power Partners. When the M.S. prevented his total participation he took disability, while continuing to provide his expertise in handling of certain problems.

Private services are planned. Condolences and remembrances may be left on Paradis-Givner Funeral Home website paradisfuneralhome.com.
