Victor Kubly

AUBURN – Victor “Vic” Kubly, 91, of Appleton Road, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in his home after a brief illness.  He was predeceased by his wife, Assunta “Ina” (Romangnolo) LaRochelle Kubly who died in 2013. Victor was also predeceased by his brother David in 2010, sister, Denise Nurney in 2016 and her husband William in 2020.  Vic is survived by three stepsons, Anthony LaRochelle, and his wife Donna of Viera, FL, Daniel LaRochelle, and his wife Carolyn of Fort Worth, TX, and Raymond LaRochelle, and his wife Candy of West Melbourne, FL; four nephews, Steven Nurney of Arizona, Peter Nurney of California, David Nurney of Washington, and Michael Nurney of Florida; three grandsons, Lee, Neil, and Ross LaRochelle; two great-granddaughters, Cecelia and Collette LaRochelle.

Vic was born in Worcester, son of the late Victor Kubly and Helen (Rocca) Kubly Dahlstrom, and lived in Auburn for many years.  He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1949, attended Worcester Junior College, earned a BA from Boston University in 1957, and received his Master’s Degree from Worcester State University in 1962.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the military police.

Mr. Kubly was a guidance counselor for Worcester Public Schools in Worcester for 32 years, retiring in 1984.  He was an antique collector for many years throughout New England, and made many friends over the years through his antiquing business.  Vic also enjoyed following the stock market and politics.  He will be remembered as an independent and resourceful man who was self-sufficient throughout his life, with everything from his business to caring for his home and property.

Victor’s family and friends would like to thank Laura's Guardian Angels and Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc, for their caring and compassionate care making it possible for him to remain home as he wished.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA  02114.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
