OXFORD – Virginia E. (Foster) Lehner, 99, died peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Brookdale – Eddy Pond East in Auburn.
She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Joseph J. Lehner Jr., who died in 2013. She is survived by six children, Joseph J. Lehner IV of Oxford, Michael C. Lehner and his wife Gloria of Oxford, James T. Lehner and his wife Paula of Sutton, and Richard C. Lehner and his companion Theresa Rogers of Port Orange, FL; two daughters, Melinda M. Miville and her husband Thomas of Enfield, CT, and Lucinda A. Broadard and her companion John Siwek of Millbury; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
She was born in Roanoke, VA, daughter of the late Thomas and Orphy (Allen) Foster, and lived most of her life in Oxford before moving to Auburn five years ago.
Mrs. Lehner was a homemaker throughout her life who lovingly cared for her home and family. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, and was a former member of the Oxford Woman’s Club. She enjoyed bowling, watching sports, baking, spending time at the beach, and traveling with her husband during retirement. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved sitting by the pool with a glass of wine, which may have contributed to her long life – only 11 days short of her 100th birthday.
We would like to thank Jewish Healthcare Hospice for the very professional, compassionate care of our mother.
We would also like to thank Brookdale Eddy Pond East, mom’s extended family, for a warm, friendly home for the past 5 years.
