OXFORD – Virginia R. Suklis, 87, of Sutton Avenue, died peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in her home surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her nephew, Alan C. Suklis and his wife Michelle of Oxford; her niece, Jayna L. Brodeur of Oxford; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen T. Suklis III; and her nephew, Stephen T. Suklis IV.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Stephen T. and Julia Ann (Klok) Suklis Jr., and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School and received her certification as a dental hygienist from the Forsyth Institute in Somerville.
Miss Suklis was a licensed dental hygienist for many years, retiring from Dr. Hamel’s Dental Office in Oxford in 2001. She was also a full-time farmer for many years, raising dairy cows with her father, and later beef cattle well into her 80’s. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, and belonged to the Hillside Club in Sutton and the Huguenot Society in Oxford. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, knitting and sewing.
Most of all she enjoyed spending time outside at the farm. She loved gardening, mowing her lawn, tending to her blueberry bushes, and making straw flower arrangements. She had many friends and family members who cared for her, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main Street, Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at West Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden Street Worcester MA, 01606.
