Vivian B. Socia

OXFORD – Vivian B. “Honey” (Wilkins) Socia, 95, died Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at AdviniaCare in Northbridge.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ralph J. Socia who died in 2010. She is survived by three children, Dennis J. Socia of North Oxford, Penny M. Cooney of Oxford, and Scott M. Socia of Oxford; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gary Roy Socia who died in 1965; two sisters, Hester Socia who died in 1997, and Dorothy Shean who died in 2014; and two brothers, Wilfred Wilkins who died in 1998, and Roland Wilkins who died in 2012.

She was born in Island Falls, ME, daughter of the late Rupert and Mildred (Hoar) Wilkins, and lived in Oxford since 1952. She graduated from Island Falls High School in 1949.

Mrs. Socia was a homemaker who cared for her home and family throughout her life. She also worked part-time at Paper World in Worcester, the Roast House in Auburn, and Park & Shop in Webster for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Oxford, where she also served on the Board of Deacons and the Music Committee at the church.

She bowled for many years in several area bowling leagues. She also enjoyed playing sports in her youth, especially basketball. She remained active throughout her life, at church, in the community, and during her time in the nursing home playing bingo, exercising, and participating in many activities. She was a talented musician and played the piano, organ, and guitar. She enjoyed time watching the deer and moose in Maine, and could always be found with one of her favorite Tootsie pops.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, 693 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
