OXFORD – Walter J. Rice, 85, of Holbrook Road, died peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine V. (Dube) Rice who died in 2006. He is survived by four children, Denise M. Rice of Oxford, Norma J. Cazeault and her husband Michael of Oxford, Linda A. Rice of Southbridge, and Kenneth M. Rice and his wife Wendy of Worcester; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. He was born in Leicester, son of the late Morgan J. and Mary E. (Daviau) Rice, and lived in Oxford since 1966. He graduated from South High School in Worcester.
Mr. Rice worked for Thom McAn in Worcester and Auburn for 32 years. Later, he worked for Masterman’s in Auburn for 15 years. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, and was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
