OXFORD – Warren Iwao Ito, 73, died peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon M. (Cazeault) Ito of Oxford; two children, Brandon K. Ito of Oxford, and Brianne T. Ito and her husband Ryan Connolly of Springfield, NH; his granddaughter who he held close to his heart, Leona; his sister, Joyce Torres and her husband Patrick of Kaneohe, HI; nieces, nephews, family and friends in New England and Hawaii. He was predeceased by three brothers, Roy, Gary, and Stephen.
Warren was born in Honolulu, son of the late Toshio and Kikue (Abe) Ito. He graduated from Farrington High School and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii, both in Honolulu. He worked at Frito Lay in Killingly, CT for 36 years, retiring in 2018.
Warren considered himself a “hearty New Englander” after moving to Massachusetts in 1981. With the help of family, he and Sharon built a home in Woodstock, CT where they raised their children. Most recently he lived in Sutton, NH for five years to be near his pride and joy, his granddaughter Leona. Known as Papa, he built a basement playground where he and Leona spent many days building fun projects, creating, pretending, and making memories.
Warren could often be found helping family and friends with home repairs, building, or working on vehicles. He will be remembered as a DIY self-taught handyman who was fondly known by family as “Inspector Gadget”. He loved puttering with his tools and old tractors. Warren was an avid fisherman in Hawaii and along the Northeast coast.
The family would like to thank the pulmonary transplant team and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and the staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation for their loving care of Warren and his family. They touched our lives and will always be remembered.
A celebration of Warren’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Point Breeze Restaurant, 114 Point Breeze Road, Webster. Family will share stories and memories at 1:00 p.m. Those attending are respectfully requested to dress casually for the gathering, and Aloha attire and flip-flops are welcome.
Burial will be held privately at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 565 Ashford Center Rd, Ashford, CT 06278.
Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
