WORCESTER - William "Tony" Anthony Pina, 69, of Worcester, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on Saturday August 2, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his daughter Alana Romano and her partner Sooyun Chung of Woburn; a brother, Ricardo Pina of Worcester; five sisters, Pamela Merchant of Weymouth, Belinda Pina of Spencer, Michelle and her husband Jim Bailly of Worcester, with whom he resided, Robin Bailey of Columbia, SC, and Lisa Rodgers of Williamston, NC; and his best friend/cat Marony. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Pina; his stepmother Bettyann Pina; and his two stepbrothers, Emilie Plourde and David Plourde.
He was born in Boston, son of the late William Pina and Claire Pina-Dsane, and lived in Spencer for many years before moving to Worcester.
Mr. Pina had many jobs in the Worcester area throughout his life. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Chester Street in Worcester.
For those who really knew Tony, they would know that he was either grumpy or went out of his way to help you, there was no happy medium! Tony was also a big fan of country music. He was a very social man and was known by many throughout the city.
On behalf of William, the family would like to thank the staff at the UMass Cancer Center, and a special thank you to the Bailly family for all of their help with Tony’s care.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 67 Chester Street, Worcester. Those attending are respectfully asked to meet at the Temple. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
