William Yucatonis

NORTH OXFORD – William J. Yucatonis, 90, of Pinedale Drive, died Friday, April 6, 2007, in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda L. (Michalak) Yucatonis of North Oxford; three children, William P. Yucatonis of North Oxford, Paula J. Brunelle and her husband Richard J. of Oxford, and Debra A. Charbonneau and her husband David G. of Auburn; eight grandchildren, William, Christopher, Sarah, Jared, Bryan, Leah, Derek, and Deanna; a great granddaughter, Grace; several nephews and nieces, and his favorite cat, Scott. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Mary Yucatonis; a sister, Mary Leone, and two brothers, Joseph Yucatonis and Anthony Yucatonis. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Felix and Mary (Rusecky) Yucatonis, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1949. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in Worcester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, joining the Army before the war began and staying until the war was over. Mr. Yucatonis was a machinist at Reed Rolled Thread and Die Company in Holden for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. Mr. Yucatonis was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4 in Worcester. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and woodworking, and he especially loved organizing "grandchildren's parties" on father's day. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. A military burial will follow at Westridge Cemetery in Charlton, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Monday, April 9, 2007, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537, or to the Lisa Yucatonis Scholarship Fund, c/o Oxford High School, 495 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
