NORTH OXFORD - William P. "Bill" Yucatonis Sr., 64, a former abrasives executive at Norton Company and life-long resident of Oxford and Charlton, MA, died after a short illness on Friday, January 30 2015, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, with both his sons and best friend, John Morin, by his side. He is survived by two sons, William P. "Bill" Yucatonis Jr. and his wife Jessica of Foxboro, and Christopher P. Yucatonis of North Oxford; two sisters, Paula J. Brunelle and her husband Richard of Oxford, and Debra A. Charbonneau and her husband David of Auburn; three grandchildren, Grace, Jack, and Charlie; nephews and nieces. His daughter, Lisa M. Yucatonis, who died suddenly in 1998, predeceased him. Bill was born in Worcester on August 27, 1950, the son of the late William J. and Wanda L. (Michalak) Yucatonis. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1968 and attended Worcester State College and Nichols College in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was also a veteran of the US Army. Bill celebrated 25 years at Norton Company, and spent most of his career in the abrasives industry as a consultant and product engineer working with companies including Norton Company, Weiler Corp. and Loram. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed trips to the casino, and was a 30-year season ticket holder for the New England Patriots. He loved going for long walks with his dog CRBY, often 5 miles day, and also spending time with his daughter's cat, Floyd. He remained active during his retirement as a groundskeeper for many years at Pine Ridge Country Club, and airport driver for Knight's Limousine. He was also a spiritual man and involved in many church activities, as well as a devout volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A funeral will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will follow at Westridge Cemetery in Charlton. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lisa Yucatonis Scholarship Fund, c/o Oxford High School, 495 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
