OXFORD – Winifred Mae (Bedard) Menard, 88, passed away on May 29, 2017, after a short illness. Winifred was born in Worcester on December 14, 1928, to Martha E. Martin and Louis Bedard, and lived in Auburn for most of her childhood. She was the last survivor of 8 children. She graduated as valedictorian from Auburn High School in 1945. Winifred married Leo P. Menard, who passed away in March of this year. In July, they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
She was a mother to all. Winnie and Leo raised 6 children in their brand-new home on Chestnut Hill Road in North Oxford. She was a C.C.D. teacher at St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford. Their children are Stephen, Susan J. Hughes, John, Joel, Scott, and Michael. She was predeceased by her son, Scott Menard; and her grandson, Tyler Menard. Memé also leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Winnie was an excellent cook and loved to play her piano. Tootie and Jackie entertained family and friends on all occasions. They will be greatly missed by all who knew them.
Memorial calling hours for Winifred and her husband Leo are Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A committal service will be held at North Cemetery immediately following the calling hours.
