Alice "Lou" Saad

OXFORD – Alice Joanna “Lou” Saad, 99, of Wheelock Street, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.  She is survived by six children, Edward Zaczek of Webster, Michael Zaczek and his wife Marlene of Dennis, Bruce Zaczek of Webster, Arthur Plasse and his wife Cheryl of Worcester; Christine Perkins of Webster, and Debra Schauwecker of Yarmouth Port; a foster daughter, Susan Lavallee of Webster; a brother, Harry Saad of Dudley; two sisters, Tina Wennerberg of Oxford and Anne Naleski of Dudley; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by nine brothers, Joseph Saad, John Saad, Michael Saad, Napoleon “Nippy” Saad, Anthony “Bobby” Saad, Alfred Saad, William Saad, George J. “Tuta” Saad, and Franklin G. “Sonny” Saad; and five sisters, Elvira J. Sousa, Estelle Jackson, Aurora Saad, Agnes J. Smolen, and Mary Guy; her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Zaczek; and son-in-law, Allen T. Schauwecker.  She enjoyed the company of her favorite women, Jeannie Konkol-Saad, Susan Zaczek, Doreen Sacramone, and Linda Froneberger.  She was born in Woonsocket, RI, daughter of the late George and Joanna (Monterio) Saad, and lived in Webster before moving to Oxford 60 years ago.

Mrs. Saad worked at the Wash Tub Laundromat in Dudley for many years, retiring in 2017.  She enjoyed selling her treasurers at her side-business flea market in Dudley.  She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and was a deputy sheriff in Worcester County for 9 years.  She enjoyed dancing and playing bingo.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will be private at a later date at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In true Lou fashion, the family asks that everyone join them in wearing black and purple to the services.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
