WEBSTER – Alphie J. Benoit, 84, of Webster, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at UMass Memorial Hospital from complications of COVID-19.

Alphie is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years, Sandra C. (Butler) Benoit; three sons, Raymond Benoit and his spouse Steven Randolph of Bothell, WA, Roger Benoit of Las Vegas, NV, Kenneth Benoit of Las Vegas, NV; his beloved sister Julie Gauthier and niece Dianne Gauthier of Millville; and other nieces, a step-son John Butler and wife Sue of Eagle River, AK, step-daughter Deborah Stearns and husband Alan of Oxford.  Alphie also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Christopher, Kaitlyn, and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Alaia, Kaitlyn, Colton, and twins Keegan and Emma. Alphie was predeceased by a daughter Dolores Benoit; former wife Lucy (Belknap) Benoit; sisters Rita and Beatrice; and brother-in-law Paul Gauthier.

Alphie was born in Linwood (Northbridge), son of the late Alphie and Amelia (Laporte) Benoit. He attended Blackstone public schools.

Alphie served honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force from 1953 until retiring in 1974 as a Master Sergeant. After Alphie’s Air Force career, he spent 21 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Milford

Alphie and Sandy enjoyed spending their retirement years traveling, going on day trips, and precious time with family. He also enjoyed sharing all his memories of Air Force life.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UMass Memorial Healthcare, Office of Philanthropy, c/o Organ Transplant Program, 365 Plantation St., Biotech One, Worcester, MA 01605.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
