Carolyn Adams

OXFORD – Carolyn Ruth (Smith) Adams, 77, of Main Street, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Meadows of Central Massachusetts.  She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Albert Mitchell Adams who died in 2017.  She is survived by two children, John A. Adams and his wife Amber of Wilmington, DE, and Laura Beth Wilson of Oxford; two grandchildren, Jonathan Albert LeBreton of Oxford and Madison Carolyn Adams of Wilmington, DE; her sister, Barbara K. Willman of North Chelmsford; and several nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by her twin sister, Claire Smith who died in 1944; and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Wilson who died on March 17, 2021.  She was born in Southbridge, daughter of the late John A. and Mary Theresa (Kibirkstis) Smith, and lived in Southbridge before moving to Oxford in 1996.  She graduated from Southbridge High School.

Mrs. Adams was a baker at Park and Shop in Auburn for many years, retiring in 1999.  Previously she worked at Labonte’s Supermarket in Oxford and American Optical in Southbridge.  She was an election worker for the town of Oxford for over 40 years.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church in Oxford, where she volunteered in the office for several years.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Clara Barton Chapter, and was a past member and mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls.  She volunteered her time at the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles, crossword puzzles, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Monday, April 12, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf, 4 Maple Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.
