Obituary

WEBSTER – Gail Charlotte (Whelpley) Brochu passed into eternity on April 20th, 2022, a beautiful spring day.  Loving daughter of Frederick W. and Helen C. (Moses) Whelpley.  Born January 27, 1935, Medford.

Our mother was a compassionate nurse, and a gifted piano player.  Having earned her R.N. at Newton-Wellesley School of nursing in 1955.  Went on to work at Boston Children's Hospital, and later after moving to Oxford, MA, she worked on the diabetes study and clinic in Oxford, and worked as a school nurse for several years.  She retired from the Women’s Correctional Institution in Framingham. Following eighteen years there, ending as head nurse giving countless women the love and care she could so easily bestow on others.  Growing up watching and listening to her playing Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 “Moonlight” or Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C Sharp Minor was something to behold.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Dave, Paul, and ‘Pete’ Whelpley, each of whom she adored, and they her. Her kind sister-in-law Carol, and nieces Diane and Johanne. Her first born son David, which broke her heart, but took comfort in knowing he had placed his faith in Jesus Christ, as also, praise God, our dad has done also, and her cousin John Coney, with whom she shared a birthday.

Waiting to join her, daughters Pamela Raad, Jennifer Turner, Charlotte Brochu and Barbara Campbell. Her sons John and Eric, and their spouses. Blessed with fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren, who deeply loved her. Her sweet sister-in-law Gael, her dear cousin Setphanie, her loved daughter-in-law Karen and lifelong friend Janny. And a generous handful of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Webster Manor who gave us four amazing years with our mother. She was a member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Danielson.

But most of all for that name which is above every name, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

A private graveside service will be held at North Cemetery in Oxford. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please share the gospel with someone.
