WEBSTER – Kenneth G. Ashton, 71, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Gale (Boulanger) Ashton; his daughter, Shelley Ashton-Briggs and her husband Jeffrey Briggs; and his granddaughter, Kennedy Briggs.

Mr. Ashton held a master’s degree in secondary education.  He was a middle school English teacher at Southbridge Public Schools for 35 years, retiring in 2006.  During his tenure, he directed many musical productions as the middle school drama club director for 25 years.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to their Cape Cod home where he wrote and published three children’s mystery novels, “Gale’s Gold Ring,” “A Ship Named Jenny,” and “A Mystery at Pinecroft Estate.”

During his retirement, he was employed as a part-time associate at the Home Depot in Oxford.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, golfing, boating, and traveling.  He was a member of Twin Brook Country Club, Hyannis Yacht Club, the Massachusetts Retired Teacher’s Association, the Webster Lake Association, and St. Pius X Parish in South Yarmouth.

A funeral will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford.  Burial will be private at a later date at New Notre Dame Cemetery in Southbridge.  Calling hours are Sunday, January 3, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Jimmy Fund, or Tunnel for Towers.
