Laura Starkus Jenkner

OXFORD/CHARLTON – Laura A. (Perron) Starkus Jenkner, 102, formerly of McIntyre Road in Oxford, died Monday, December 28, 2020, at Webster Manor.  She was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Richard Jenkner who died in 1989; and her first husband of 27 years, Albert A. Starkus who died in 1967.  She is survived by three children, David J. Starkus of Leominster, Peter D. Starkus and his wife Deborah of Charlton, with whom she lived, and Priscilla “Pat” Magnon of Charlton; her sister-in-law, Anna Peltier of North Oxford; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by four children, Paul Starkus who died in 2000, Ann Ford who died in 2002, Albert Starkus Jr. who died in 2005, and Betty Levasseur who died in 2013; four brothers, and one sister.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Alfred and Clara (Metivier) Perron, and lived most of her life in North Oxford before moving to Charlton in 2011.  She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade High School.

Mrs. Jenkner was a custodian for the U.S. Post Office in North Oxford for over 50 years, retiring in 2009.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford, where she was a member of the Women’s Group and helped to clean the church.  She loved to work in the yard, color, and loved her dog Bella.

Due to gathering restrictions, the funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church and burial at St. Roch’s Cemetery will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Church, c/o the St. Vincent de Paul Society, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
