Madeleine Mrzyglod

March 12, 1944 — December 30, 2022

Charlton

CHARLTON – Madeleine “Maddy” Mrzyglod, 78, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, December 30, 2022, with her family by her side.

Maddy is survived and missed by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Mrzyglod; and her children, Cheryl Russell and her husband Kevin of Dudley, Karen Manganelli and her husband Carl of Waltham, and Mark Mrzyglod of Charlton.  She will be forever adored and cherished by her five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Heather, Tessa, and Ray, along with their spouses and her eight great-grandchildren.  Maddy’s memory lives on with her sister Joanne Shalaby of Anderson, SC; and brother Normand Lefebvre and his wife Patti of Payton, CO, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Ramona A.W. Mrzyglod; and her brother-in-law, Dr. Shalaby W. Shalaby.

Maddy Mrzyglod was born Madeleine Rachel Lafebvre on Sunday, March 12, 1944, to the late Euclide “Boots” and Hortense (Jacob) Lefebvre of Dudley.  The youngest of three children, Maddy spent her younger years on Corbin Road in Dudley, where she attended Bartlett High School in Webster and graduated in 1961.  Maddy was married on June 15, 1963, to her childhood sweetheart Raymond Mrzyglod, and moved to Charlton to build their forever home where she raised her family.  Maddy worked for West Main Auto as a bookkeeper, however her main focus and only desire in life was to be a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Maddy, known as Mom, Auntie, and Mamie, enjoyed homemaking, reading, classical music, birdwatching, touring the back property in her golf cart, and her many cats.  Her back door was always open for visitors, and one would be greeted with a smile, kiss and a hug.  She was cheerful, loving, witty, and bright; her chocolate chip cookies and back scratches were the best in the world.  She was a natural pillar to our family.  During her later years, one would often find her gazing at her gardens through her kitchen window and admiring her home, pleased with the life that she lived and proud of the family she created.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  Calling hours are Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA 01507, or to Tri-Valley Inc., 10 Mill St., Dudley, MA 01571.
