CHARLTON/AUBURN – Marlene (Mitchell) Butler, 87, formerly of Charlton, died Thursday, April 28, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.  She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Raymond P. Butler who died in 2017.  She is survived by three children, David P. Butler and his partner Kim Summers of Webster, Cindy A. Gaucher and her husband Dean of Oxford, and Laurie A. Carlson and her husband Curt of Worcester; a brother, Dwight Mitchell of Dudley; five sisters, Katherine King of Charlton, Ruth Defoe of Webster, Roselyn Beaudette of Oxford, Claudia Blauvelt of Charlton, and Ella Polinski of Leicester; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda L. Martensen who died in 1993; two brothers, Karl Mitchell and John Mitchell; and a sister, Annabelle King.  She was born in Auburn, daughter of the late Archibald L. and Alma A. (Konkol) Mitchell, and lived in Charlton, Oxford, and Webster, before moving back to Charlton in 1985.  She graduated from Charlton High School in 1952.

Mrs. Butler worked at Commerce Insurance Company in Webster for 10 years, retiring in 1996.  She enjoyed camping, bird-watching, and attending the Charlton Senior Center.  Mrs. Butler loved being a residential ambassador at Eddy Pond in Auburn.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Calling hours are Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours.  Burial will be private at a later date at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlton Senior Center, 37 Main St., Charlton, MA 01507, or a charity of one’s choice.
