Martha Bell

OXFORD – Martha Bell, 98, of Oxford, MA died peacefully on September 5, 2022, with her daughter Barbara at her bedside.  Martha was born in Providence, RI on March 8, 1924. Martha and her family moved to Oxford in 1936.  She was the second of three children to Mamie Wilson Oborne and Horace Oborne. She married the love of her life, Warren Bell Sr. on November 11, 1946, in Oxford.

Together they raised two children, Warren Bell Jr. and Barbara Bell.  Martha was a devoted mother and dear friend to many. She was predeceased by her dearest friend Bill Russell.

She was devoted to her faith in God and all her dear friends at Lighthouse Ministries in Oxford.  Under Minister Marshall Paul and his wife Susan, Martha and her husband served helping with Food Share, The Missions Board and volunteered and sponsored at the Lighthouse for Women.  Martha loved reading her Bible and writing poetry.

Martha served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946, working in the Navy Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA.   She also served as the Veterans Agent for the Town of Oxford.  Martha is survived by her daughter Barbara Bell of New York; her son Warren Bell and wife Susan, of Pownal, Maine; three grandsons, Scott, Christopher and Ryan, and two great grandchildren, Kadence and Evan.
