Nance Giles

ROCHDALE – Nance M. (Auger) Giles, 74, of Virginia Drive, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones in her home after a battle with cancer.  She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Albert B. “Bert” Giles of Rochdale who died in 2013.  She is survived by three children, Michelle L. Payson of Douglas, Sean D. Giles of Spencer, and Jennalyn J. Giles and her fiancé Erik Golden of Rochdale; her sister, Noreen A. Parmentier and her husband David of North Oxford; four grandchildren, Jeremy Payson, Sophia Payson, Vivian Giles, and Abigail McDaniel.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Henry J. Auger and Julia M. (Riendeau) Madaga, was raised in Oxford, lived in Leicester for 26 years, and Spencer for 14 years before moving to Rochdale five years ago.  She graduated from Oxford High School in 1964.

Nance was the office manager at Anderson Company in Worcester for many years.  Later, she worked at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester for over 20 years prior to retirement.  She was a member of the Tuesday night bowling league at Mohegan Bowl in Webster, bowling on the team “Ken’s Hens.”

Nance enjoyed playing cards, game nights, traveling, flower gardening, and going to the movies.  She made wonderful soups and hosted soup night in her neighborhood.  She had a special fondness for her dogs.  Her family meant everything to her, and she made friends wherever she went.  She was always involved in neighborhood activities and enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s events and activities.

A funeral will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius/St. Jude Parish, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester.  Burial will be private at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Shore Action for Hope, 3 Whispering Pines Drive, Plymouth, MA 02360.
