OXFORD – Ralph W. Miller, 82, of Pratt Avenue, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a short illness.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol J. (Kendzierski) Miller of Oxford; his son, William R. Miller and his wife Kristina of Bellingham; and five grandchildren, Sara Olszta, William Olszta, Grace Landry, Adam Miller, and Alec Miller.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa C. duShane who died in 2021; and a brother, Roger E. Miller who died in 1987.  He was born in Oxford, son of the late Ralph H. and Audrey (Langway) Miller, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford.  He graduated from Oxford High School in 1957.  He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Miller worked for the Department of Public Works in Oxford for over 20 years.  After retirement, he worked part-time for the Highway Department for many years.

He was a member of the Oxford Fire Department for nearly 40 years, as fire chief, district chief, member of the rescue squad, and C.E.R.T. member.  He was a part-time police officer for the Oxford Police Department in the 1970’s, and was a member of the Southern Massachusetts Police Association.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
