CHARLTON – Richard E. O’Brien, 61, died Thursday, February 4, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He is survived by his fiancée, Theresa A. Crowley of Charlton; two sons, Donald Riopel and his wife Tanya of Palmer, and Justin Riopel of Monson; and four grandchildren who he loved greatly. He was born in Cambridge, son of the late Richard J. and Frances (Maloney) O’Brien, and lived in Charlton for 21 years.
Mr. O’Brien owned and operated O’Brien Painting in Charlton for over 20 years, retiring in 2020. He worked as a painter and painting contractor throughout his life for various companies prior to owning his own business. He enjoyed all sports and loved riding his motorcycle.
Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 West Wacker Dr., Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
