DUDLEY – Robert W. Gaddis, 88, of Shine Avenue, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, in his home.  He is survived by his wife, Marguerite A. (Fries) Gaddis of Dudley; three sons, Mark Gaddis of Oxford, Peter Gaddis and his wife Lori of Arlington, VA, and Kevin Gaddis of Dudley; his sister, Margaret Quinn of South Salem, NY; six grandchildren, Rocco Merolli and his wife Asia, Rebecca Ide and her husband Mark, Amy Gaddis, Maggie Gaddis, Leiston Gaddis, and Sutton Gaddis and his wife Laura; a great-grandson, Carter Gaddis; and many nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Gaddis; and two sisters, Eleanor Finnerty and Ruth Aulenbach.  He was born in Arlington, son of the late Michael E. and Esther (McNamara) Gaddis, and lived in Medway for many years before moving to Dudley five years ago.  He graduated from St. John’s High School in Somerville in 1950, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Gaddis worked for the U.S. Post Office in Medway for 20 years, retiring in 2006.  In addition, he owned and operated “The Little Store” in Medway with his wife for many years.  Prior to his time at the post office, he worked for Inforex, Raytheon, and M.I.T.  He was a very active member at St. Joseph’s Church in Medway for many years, participating in the choir and CCD, before more recently joining St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford.  He enjoyed building models, woodworking, and caring for his yard and pool.  He enjoyed entertaining with his wife and had many neighborhood parties in Medway.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date due to gathering restrictions.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
